Outdoor Learning is a way of bringing the curriculum alive outside. It can happen over one day or more and is focused on curriculum outcomes rather than being child led like Forest School.

A trained practitioner will focus on topics and approach them differently in the outdoors to appeal to the wide variety of learning approaches. The sessions will use natural resources and a holistic approach where learners will be benefitting from being in their natural surroundings, physical movement and sensory connection whilst immersing themselves in a subject.

Whether you are learning about Stone Age Living, Multiplication or Literacy, exploring art or applying the laws of levers, all curriculum areas can be enhanced through outdoor learning. When used in the right way and tied into classroom activities outdoor learning can embed ways of learning in children and leave lasting memories.
